Ms. Anne

Founder of Mind & Music Academy

Hi there! My name is Anne and I love to teach! I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Maryland- College Park and a Master's Degree in Gifted Education from Johns Hopkins University. I’ve taught for 5 years in Montgomery County Public Schools and 1 year at a private, Catholic school.

Before entering the classroom, I began my career in music teaching piano and violin privately to students as young as 5-years old to teens and adults. My passion is in both academic and music education. I am committed to helping students reach their fullest academic potential and understanding so they may succeed and thrive in society, and I care deeply about the development of the whole child which includes their physical and social-emotional well-being. I am equally dedicated to introducing the joys and benefits of playing music to people of all ages. Playing music has brought me so much happiness, and has helped me get through some of the hardest times in my life. This is my 15th year teaching piano and violin, and I look forward to many more years.

My approach to teaching is developmentally appropriate, patient, kind and engaging. My goal is to ensure students can learn how to play the piano and violin, but that they also learn to love it and appreciate it. Outside of teaching in the general education classroom and teaching privately, I've been in several orchestras, including the Washington Youth Foundation Orchestra and the Washington Gamers Symphony Orchestra. I have performed at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. and Carnegie Hall in New York.
